What is it about the Titanic that still facinates us after 100 years? It is such a compelling story of loss, heroism, stupidity and fate. The 100th anniversary has brought forth a number of books and the re-release of the movie. I won't watch Kate and Leo again--I started crying during the opening credits. But I may have gone a bit overboard in my choice of reading material lately.
Yet, with each book I've learned something new. Did you know that 3 dogs survived the sinking? Or that stewardess, Violet Jessup, served on the Olympic, Titanic and Britannic. I can't imagine how awful it must have been for the crew of the McKay Bennett to have to retrieve all the bodies.
I do think its time to take a break and read about something else. But someone mentioned there was a book about the Titanic cat.
